Open Fountain
Found! An open healing fountain,
Sin, uncleanness wash away,
Flowing down from Calv’ry’s mountain
Into hearts from God astray.
Sin, whose stain the heart had hardened
Charged to Christ at Calvary;
Fully punished, fully pardoned,
Fully lost in mercy’s sea.
Let the vision never falter,
From the opened eyes of faith;
Hence to worship at the altar
Where Messiah took our place.
See, forever see, its power
Silence guilt and cleanse within!
Every day, and hour by hour,
Conquer unbelief & sin.
Gospel hope with Regal sentence
Reign with sovereign sway within!
There in temped hour’s dependence,
There in bitter failures din.
Oh how precious to embrace it!
How could such a blind man see!
Oh to Him to whom I trace it
All my thanks and praises be!
Open fountain to the needy,
Deep it’s well for all who thirst!
Come and drink with me where greedy
Draughts of mercy quench the worst!
Church rejoice now in the power
That your chains have severed round!
Singing safe within the Tower
