From Page to Heart
Oh riches past the grasp of men,
Or Angel’s perfect mind,
These bible promises like gems
That faith rejoicing finds!
Oh Jesus how immense the gift,
Defying every gauge;
How full the joy that faith will lift
From each most blessed page.
It makes the trillions of the lost
Look like a rusty toy
That turns to dust and tears and loss
While ours augments with joy.
Its promises of heavenly hope
Have flown with sovereign wing,
From page to heart to raise a folk
To life where death was king.
Like waters of a healing stream
It’s Words of life have flowed,
And made the thirsty vale to teem,
And filled its empty road.
From page to heart, from page to heart,
It’s troop has thus increased,
Who saw the sea of death to part
And crossed to liberty.
Not all that hell can field to fight
To bring that Word to nought,
But that tis used of God to quite
Perfect the thing they fought.
Hope’s anchor in a sea of change,
Unmoved it’s joy and force,
Within the heart it lives and Reigns,
And can’t help but rejoice.
From death to life, from page to heart,
That Word dry bones made live!
They see, they love, rejoice, and march,
Come read, as once they did.
