What Should We Think of the Professing Christian Evolutionist?

By Charles Church

What does it mean when a professing Christian advocates for evolution? Are the implications of this doctrine such that it nullifies one’s profession? Is it really not that big a deal? In modern times many have become quite soft on the matter as though it really implied no fundamental departure from the Christian Faith. C.S. Lewis, B.B. Warfield, (at least for a time), and more recently Tim Keller have all departed from the faith in this particular, and have yet somehow managed to salvage their repute among God’s people as being something other than the apostates from the faith that they are. I hope to offer judicious reasons why such a belief is a grave departure from Christianity altogether, and that such persons should be cut off from the people of God until such time as they repent. (And I’m given to understand that this was indeed the case with Warfield.)

Perhaps foremost in the litany of such reasons is the fact that people are not persuaded from this position from their bibles, in which there exists not the least shred of a warrant for such a fantasy, but by their granting to modern peudo-science the place of ultimate truth above the bible, and then go to work dismantling the plain unobstructed meaning of the sacred texts in a bid to salvage their reputation with unbelief as rational men. But….. “He that is of God heareth God’s words: Ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God”.  And, “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” That man that puts the vain and contradictory opinions of men HIGHER than the bible is not only a fool, but an UNBELIEVER. That he is willing to commit such exegetical savagry upon something he pretends to supremely revere is demonstrative of the most base hypocrisy and of a degree of triffling that only the most consummate unbelief could engender. It is someone who does not believe what the bible says about itself, or any other matter, and who has offered the ultimate affront to it’s author of treating His veracity below that of the ravings of unbelief.  “How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?” (John 5:44)

Secondly, Unless God is a MONKEY it repudiates a cardinal point of every creed of Christendom… that man is created in God’s image. It also breeches the impassible distinction between the lower creation and that which is made in God’s image, by unifying them altogether, making the one proceed from the other. That which arises from the genetics of another creature unavoidably has “sameness”, in effect, calling God an ape. We have a passage in the bible about doing that. “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”

Thirdly, and most importantly, the evolutionary paradigm places death BEFORE the fall, requiring thousands, if not millions, of generations to perish by death before man could even EXIST, much less FALL. So this has God calling death “very good”, and as well requiring the unavoidable conclusion that since death preceded the fall and sin, that therefore that which came after cannot be the cause of that which was former, and sin is not the cause of death and I therefore need no solution for it whatever to be freed from death, either by the redeeming/substitutionary work of Christ or by personal repentance and faith. It is absolutely unavoidable that evolution destroys the very heart beat of the Christian faith….. the cross, and in doing so overthrows the entire Christian religion.

Such beliefs are not just wrong. They are not just evil. They are satanic, perverted, blasphemous, and in anyone thinking to profess the gospel of Christ at the same time, incoherent and deranged. The conclusions enumerated above are absolutely inescapable in regard to ALL who believe in evolution. While one might attempt to argue that you can extrapolate the nature of any sin and come up with a firm conviction of blasphemy, being demonic, or deranged, and so unsaint the entire church, yet that is completely false, and frankly rather Jesuitical. The same rule applies quite precisely. Let any other Christian go about DEFENDING and TEACHING that such sins are good and wholesome, and biblical….. the ONLY parallel to ADVOCATES of evolution….. and the same thing applies. But where are such advocates? And this is exactly why such deniers of the faith who embrace this outrageously blasphemous heresy should be put out of God’s church, but especially out of His pulpits. The modern tolerance for this wickedness is frightening. Have we really so badly lost it that people see this as consistent with a renewed state? Holding a blank denial of overt passages of scripture which incontrovertibly overthrow the work of the cross, establish idolatry and worshiping of science, make a monkey out of God, and vindicate the wicked? That’s a Christian? I think it’s time people learned what a Christian is. Charles Church
