The Trial of Faith
The days have passed hard over me
And swept all in their furious gale
Each dearest love washed out to sea
Till only God drove on my sail.
A passage sweetly trying trust
It’s joy and pain embraced to find
That God alone is joy enough
Where pain got lost in heaven’s mines.
I’ve held the gold of hope and touched
Sweet promises defying sum
Till heart so full my grief had blushed
Excused itself, its mission done.
Oh fullness greater than the need
Of any trial dark earth can wield
In ruin vast, in loss complete
Bright hope has fought and won the field.
Truth comfort you in floods of woe,
What horrors may your faith refine….
Your future greater than you know
Shall soon posses your troubled mind.
Oh worship Him Who reigns for you
Though called through troubles parried not
In every outrage deep, ’tis true
He saves, He loves the ones He bought.
