The Nationalist Example of Pentecost
Many times through life I’ve heard the Pentecost story reflected upon as a biblical example of racial harmony. So many different peoples congregating in Jerusalem in peace, respect, and amity, and the Holy Spirit speaking through the apostles to all the nations gathered in their own tongue. The narrative irresistibly brings to mind the fall of man, and his attempted combination as one people in order to make a god of their own, a religion of their own, a temple of their own, and to jettison the living God their maker. The intervention of divine providence divided mankind into languages and nations, as an explicit and expressed means of derailing this idolatrous purpose of man’s idolatrous unity. God immediately confounded their languages, displaying a remarkable and frightful sovereignty over the hearts of all men, (if you consider it), dividing them by language into separate peoples, so as to frustrate apostate humankind’s purposes, and that their circumstances might be more amenable to finding and worshiping the true God when separated in nations.
But here at Pentecost we see just the reverse of this happening. We see men of diverse tongues gathered around the apostles and being united in the true worship of the true God, again by a divine visitation to this end, each hearing the truth in his own tongue, and joining mankind in the hope and knowledge of the gospel, thus facilitating the sanctified unity, attainable alone by this intervention and miracle of Grace, and uniting all these formerly separated peoples, to abide in the truth, peace, and amity of the people of God, though drawn from a diverse ethnic and linguistic origins.
“And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? [8] And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? [9] Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, [10] Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, [11] Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.” Acts 2:7-11 KJV
This outpouring of the Holy Spirit was indeed unique to former dispensations, and yet we see a shadow of it in Psalm 133 “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! 2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; 3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” In this place, unity is likened to the Spirit of God being poured upon the head of the high priest, and flowing down from thence to the lowest members of the body. That is… that true biblical unity arises in the church by reason of the union of it’s members in Christ as their great high Priest, from Whom proceeds a Spirit of faith upholding saints throughout life, and of repentance toward God, and being thus filled with His Spirit, find love agreement and mutual appreciation of all that is holy. And Pentecost is certainly the most exquisite demonstration of that principle.
But there are several things that beg review in the common rendition of these events. The first is, that it ought to be considered to what extent those gathered were indeed all from differing nations. Yes, they lived in different places. But they were united by a common faith, being there present to celebrate Pentecost, and may have indeed been, and likely were, but some of the scattered tribes of Israel. While I think this is for the most part true, yet we would hardly call the scattered tribes, Medes, Cretes, and Arabians, and thus it appears that there is valid ground to say, that while these were doubtless mostly scattered Israelites, yet it appears that there were many of other nations there as well, but such as had converted to the worship of Israel.
So does this mean that all peoples really need to just remove all distinction of race and national extraction ,and then we’ll be filled with the Holy Spirit and we’ll all experience racial harmony, reconciliation, mutual acceptance, and unity? Because that’s the typical spin we seem to hear about anything international in nature these days. But the more glaring observation is that this is to reverse the order. They were filled with the Holy Spirit and then found harmony, they did not pretended to harmony, and the Holy Spirit was impressed enough to show up. As necessary as such a distinction is, for several reasons, yet such observations are highly susceptible to a gross misconstruction, as it remains a duty to have unity and harmony, miracles or no miracles. On the one hand we needn’t heedlessly proceed into the presumption of excusing disobedience upon the pretense that we must first have the Spirit of God to have genuine spirituality, so as to decline from the gracious prompts of conscience, providence, and the inward work of God’s Spirit within as though with some sort of valid warrant or sanction, but rather that our perspective must never lose sight of utter human dependency on the grace of God to work a spiritual revelation in the hearts of His people, as it did here, and always must to experience all that is intended in spiritual life and renewal. It’s not an “if”, it’s a “how”.
We’ve noticed that when true unity is from God, it arises from believers being filled with the Holy Spirit as poured upon them from their great high priest, Jesus Christ, (Ps.133), and that the greatest demonstration of this principle is seen preeminently in Acts 2 at Pentecost. What is NOT a demonstration of this principle is a demonically inspired counterfeit unity, compelled by slanderous and lying narratives conjured of satanists, in a monstrously ubiquitous media campaign telling you and everyone else that everything you do, say, might do, have done, and which you think you might do, or which they think you are thinking you might do, is a horrid evil to be castigated in public as the quintessence of all oppression, hate, and evil…. because of the color of your white skin…. as you cower in silence and mumble submissive mantras to yourself, instead of asserting your place as a Christian in the world and insisting that those who have never produced anything but misery unless in Caucasian lands or under Caucasian governments, should stop blaming others and accept responsibility for their poverty, crime, vice, hatred, lawlessness, slavery to national enemies, and …. ENVY, and find the blessed repentance and favor of the gospel, which are among its most salient gratuities bequeathed to His elect. This counterfeit is the work of HELL and not the work of the HOLY Spirit at all, and when the conscience ascribes such things as legitimate, it is caving in to the works of Satan inwardly in oneself, in the church, and in the earth, and by such means give reign to antichrists, feeling shame for not preferring Barabbas to Christ.
This power of conscience is a thing that Satan has LONG employed as his most powerful engine to accomplish his subjugation of humanity, and with the power of modern media utterly in antichrist hands, it is all the more imperative that Christians be steeled against the lawless intrusion upon mind and morals, and assert the truth in the face of the slander, and the silencing of righteousness. Take an example from history. Exactly how does a single man, the pope’s legate, walk into a King’s throne, take the crown from his head, and kick it about the room, and demand he crawl on his knees to a cathedral to do penance for signing the Magna Carta? Did he have an army? Yes. The army of LIES arrayed against human CONSCIENCE. This POWER either holds the world to it’s rightful King, or circumvents armies, statesmen, and diplomacy, and enthrones demonic liars over the earth, all because you let them into your MIND. Just like then, so now…. you have need to be exceedingly careful what you accept as right and wrong, and especially when coming from known demon possessed global conspirators against Christ and His church. What you accept as truth will utterly control you, and you are commanded to be controlled by Jesus Christ alone, from Whom alone godly true genuine spiritually pure unity alone may arise to bless the church and the world. You owe them no show of submission to their lying damnable narrative, but a reproof of it, and an assertion of the rights of your King.
But besides all this, there is a considerable assumption being pedaled here. That the early church, by reason of merely being filled with the Spirit and experiencing a tremendous renewal, somehow didn’t GO HOME and live separately as SEPARATE peoples when Pentecost was over. They did NOT all live together, and did not demand to become refugees or immigrants upon such a pretext as spiritual experience or unity, but traveled far to get there and that when the festivities were over, they ALL.WENT.HOME. Yes, when Pentecost was over, they didn’t demand to migrate to Jerusalem, demand citizenship, and call the locals racists and segregationists if they didn’t grant them every privilege of one natural born. Rather they maintained their national identities per the works of God at Babel in Gen. 11, and accordingly went home to their native places, despite all the things that united them. Because they were filled with His Spirit, and not raving communists, as the current variety masquerading as believers. Because this is still God’s way and Pentecost doesn’t alter it. Nationalism is still of God after Pentecost.
So while it’s in vogue these days to speak of how God knows no distinctions of race or of nation, and from this fact, spiritually considered, the gargantuan reach of sciolist extrapolation is calculated unto the conclusion that God intends no distinction of national identity or identity in ethnicity, but has basically declared Himself a…. COMMUNIST. Because that’s whose doctrine this is. It is a definitively marxist view of the earth, and Christians suppose they’re upholding the bible. A quote from Adam Weishaupt comes to mind in reference to some who were averring that Masonry was a “Christian Organization”. “Oh man! What can you NOT be made to believe!”
Acts. 17 is informative here, as is , Jer. 51:9. It elaborates upon the purpose and intention of such human boundaries, and affirms their perpetuity. In Acts 2 they didn’t all just decide to migrate to Jerusalem. They met. They worshiped. They went HOME. The gospel did not destroy their nationality, their race, or their earthly citizenship, but united them in worship.
Acts 17:24 declares “God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; 25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; 26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us.”
And at once it will be obviated that this verse speaks of all nations and peoples of one blood, etc. Uh…yes… that’s ALL nations. P.L.U.R.A.L. NationS. It seems to come as a surprise to some that the Marxist ideal of having a world united under one government is not a biblical objective, but a satanic one. Yes, nations should have amity, and peace, and meet in harmony. And GO HOME. They should help each other with their needs when and if their own people are well provided for first. And GO HOME. They should appreciate any worthy cultural aspect of the various peoples of the earth. And GO HOME. And they should bless them and pray for them, and seek their good. And GO.HOME. And the redeemed among them might meet from time to time to worship and rejoice together in their redemption. AND.GO.HOME. Like they did in Acts 2. Because this is the principle made out above in Acts 17 and Gen.11. That God separated them into nations that they might SEEK THE LORD and FIND HIM, the disruption of which is precisely why Satan seeks to unite them, because it overthrows the only way this actually happens.
Every instance of nation-welding has resulted in ruin, and nowhere more obviously than in the glaring examples of our own day. At Pentecost, they all had peace, respect, and amity…. because they went home when they were done and didn’t suppose overthrowing the ordinance of God were some sort of virtue that must be proven, or that obedience to it were some sort of demonic evil that must be atoned for with humiliations of every sort.
And this spirit is truly nothing new. From the beginning Satan assayed to gather mankind all into one heap, as a stratagem of hellish dominance and control. We know what happened. God judged it and separated men upon the earth as peoples and nations. Subsequent attempts have met a similar contempt, if not a similar providence. Jer.51:9 “9 We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.” God divided men. Satan gathers them. The United Nations is not of God, but assays to overthrow this divine order and has strangely found many disciples among professing Christians.
Is this to say that if only we can get rid of all those evil dark races that we won’t have any problems left because we are the sinless ones? Or at least increase the proximity? No, far from it. Despite the fact that throughout redemptive history the “mixed multitude” travelling along side of Israel seemed to give rise to endless troubles, yet we’ve enough trouble from our own wickedness to supply ample humility and supplication of divine deliverance. In fact on this very day of Pentecost there were those who said the apostles were merely drunk when they were filled beyond measure with the Holy Spirit. But that doesn’t change the standards of the bible. And that standard is, that there are BOUNDS to the HABITATION of the peoples of the earth, and God-ordained national borders to separate and contain them as a specific habitat for them as a people, and that this sanctified arrangement will bless the peoples of the earth, and that reversing it will facilitate the works of Satan.
Today we hear even (hopefully) good men like James White say stuff like this…. ”The renewal that is the reality of true Christians is one that obliterates social, ethnic, and historical connections — the beautiful and radical unity that marked the apostolic message is based upon a truth that sociologists and politicians cannot grasp.” Biblical Christians grasp it though. And if he means that it obliterates distinctions as to the salvation of God, and the perfection of HOPE in the infinitely comforting GOSPEL of Christ, then absolutely yes. But if by such a statement is meant that all class distinctions, or racial distinctions, or national distinctions are “obliterated”, then the bible teaches marxism, and Marx was a prophet to be heeded. Except that he was an antichrist. Philemon still owned Onesimus and was a “fellow laborer in the gospel”. No one was tearing down statues of Paul because he said Cretians are always liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. No one was saying women weren’t to be subject to their husbands, nor children to their parents, nor slaves to their masters. No one was calling the Lord Christ a transgressor for calling the syrophoenecian woman a dog. And etc. etc. etc. And if this is Mr. White’s meaning…. he’s advocating for Bolshevism.
Consider a more antiquated and historical expression of the question in the following citation: “Regarding our eternal salvation, it is true that one must not distinguish between man and woman, or between king and a shepherd, or between a German and a Frenchman. Regarding policy, however, we have what St. Paul declares here; for our, Lord Jesus Christ did not come to mix up nature, or to abolish what belongs to the preservation of decency and peace among us….Regarding the kingdom of God (which is spiritual) there is no distinction or difference between man and woman, servant and master, poor and rich, great and small. Nevertheless, there does have to be some order among us, and Jesus Christ did not mean to eliminate it, as some flighty and scatterbrained dreamers [believe].” — John Calvin (Sermon on 1 Corinthians 11:2-3) This is not only the historical position, it’s the BIBLICAL position, and those who dissent from it make themselves the servants of demonic powers destroying the earth, and should be called upon to repent. And… the true church still does. Right here. Right now. Those who have bought into this wickedness…. we call upon you to consider your ways, to renounce your (unknowing) allegiance to evil, and to be unashamed of the bible, and to embrace it before the world with disdain for every other standard.
Whether the stark biblical illiteracy of the pew is to be esteemed the cause of such painful and rapacious error, or the charlatan spirit of pulpiteers clamouring for attention from blinded hoards of MSM drones & disciples, this understanding must return to the average Christian. A nationalist spirit is a BIBLICAL spirit. Internationalists are of hell. Heaven will have one tongue, but even there will remain separate peoples of the earth in their worship of God. (Rev. 7:9) Don’t let anyone teach you to hate what God has characterized as an eternal state of infinite blessedness.
