I Will Worship
I will worship when the tempest blows my house out to the seas,
I will worship when my friends destroy my name and love bereave;
Worship still when earthly powers fix upon my neck their noose,
There remember I’m redeemed and kept by hands they cannot loose.
On a cross right next to Jesus hung a man approaching death,
Bleeding out from wounds received for crime, while mourning all his thefts.
While disciples fled in panic, with a faith that failed its hour,
There the thief believed on Jesus hanging stripped of all His power.
And Peter and the thief alike will heaven know in peace,
But erstwhile Peter wept his tears, while joy filled up the thief.
No better place or time to shower praise on mercy’s King
Than when the cause of truth is shamed while foes rejoice and sing.
For in the darkest hour when even good men doubt and flee,
God is winning as He loses just as He did on Calvary.
Oh saints know thus your hour when your worship can be best,
To honor Him Who’s power will appear in every test.
Charles Church, 6/12/23
As this world continues to devolve the Savior, Christ, Jesus, God holds and protects his elect. Thank you Charles for not only for punching me physically but also spiritually as the blunt instrument of God which brought me to my knees before His cross.
Thank you for the encouragement my friend. I bring to mind an US Marine fresh from service walking into a law office in Portland Oregon, and coming to hope that some day he might rejoice in the same mercy as myself. God’s infinite kindness has followed us both. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord. Ps.23.
